Because Philadelphia had a Polar amount of snow dropped on it the week when everyone else celebrated Valentines day, neither of my kids were able to exchange sweet sentiments with the five and under crowd. Of course, this is the first year that we finished our ‘tines up early.
Finally, yesterday they were all given out. A week late, but you know what they say about late.
So, the thing is that I sent Bunny to school with a lot more than she needed. Though she labeled each child’s valentine with her/ his name, she had several that were left unlabeled. My thought was that she could give the extras to teachers or students in her specials classes that are, well, special. MY thought was that any that she returned with we could send out in the mail to our friends and family. She returned from school so angry and said, “YOU! YOU!! YOU sent me too many valentines!!! And then I had to give every child two of them and I missed my whole snack!” Apparently, the teacher had the children pass out their valentines during their snack period and Bunny had so many that she wasn’t able to finish in time to eat any of her snack. To add insult to injury, it was pretzel day. Every Friday you can send your child with $0.40 and they will get a pretzel from the grease truck at snack time. It’s a big deal to my daughter. Dare I say that it actually gets her out of bed.
